They say nothing ever happens in Kansas. Sylvester Petersen used to think so too. That is, until a mysterious new neighbor moves in next door, seemingly out of nowhere. His handful of friends – people who tried to help him cope with the sudden death of his wife – think that it might be an opportunity for him to get reacquainted with the world outside his farmhouse and to build a new relationship with his neighbor. But that idea is soon snuffed out as strange events begin to happen around him. Nothing wrong or hurtful, just strange: driving in the middle of the night, the sulfur-like odor coming off of him, the fact he doesn’t talk to anyone in the area.
And what about that dog?
Sylvester leans on logical explanations and ignores the peculiar behavior, focusing more on mending his broken heart. But when the oddities intensify – and eventually affect Sylvester directly – his attention shifts to the bigger problem closing in around him. His reasoning dwindles and his growing fear points to his neighbor.
Where is that stray dog going?
After enough time, Sylvester understands what the people of the area have been muttering about: Unexplainable blue light, corn crops moving on their own…the slaughtered cattle entirely too close to home.
And that stray dog that keeps getting fatter and fatter and fatter…
At the peak of summer, and with the walls closing in, Sylvester experiences something that will take him to the brink and haunt you forever.
Bathed in loss, terror, and human spirit, Do I Bother You at Night? will be a story you won’t forget and one that will earn you a few restless nights of your own.
Love thy neighbor.
* I received this book for review from the author. This in no way affects my thoughts expressed in this review*
Coming up on Halloween, everyone could use a good story that will, kinda quoting the synopsis here, give you a few restless nights. I’m happy to report that this is most definitely the one! This book gave me absolute chills. I’m a big fan of the horror genre so this caught my attention and I just had to read it.
I will warn you, this is SO not for the faint at heart. All I know is DIBYAN? is an on-the-edge-of-your-seat-biting-your-nails horrific(in a good way) adventure that will have you, well, bothered at night. If you are looking for something to add a little scare to your Halloween festivities this is definitely the book for you! Just, uh, don’t expect any sleep.
Love thy neighbor.
