About Days of Amber:
*I received this book for review from the author. This in no way affects my thoughts expressed in this review*
Amber & Associates is the most successful software company in the industry’s history, which is surprising since all of its employees are aloof, lazy, and downright dysfunctional. When they’re not obsessing over their next smoothie fix, or walking around the office half-naked, they’re doing everything in their power to avoid working. As they approach their long-awaited IPO date, hackers start breaching the company’s system, and messing around with Amber’s clients. Still, nobody seems to care. It’s not until the senior risk analyst leaves the company on a drunken tirade when everyone realizes the consequences of their idleness. Now, Amber’s team of frivolous and inexperienced executives is left with the greatest challenge of their careers: actually getting work done in order to save the company.
Having read a book by this author before, I was so excited to see what they cooked up in this one, as it’s noticeably different than the first by the author. In the world of Amber & Associates you get an almost comical look at the way that the people of the company behave, but that all changes on a dime and the team much learn to *gasp* actually get work done.
I really enjoyed this book! It was so different than the author’s previous work, but it’s an awesome book in its own right. If you are looking for a really good book with(scarily – in a good way) believable characters then I recommend you check this book out. It’s entertaining, and actually a pretty quick read. I couldn’t put it down! I think the best thing about this book is that it just takes everyday normalcy to a whole new level that is both witty and well thought out. I cannot wait what to see what this amazing author cooks up next!
