Fifteen year-old Miri lives in a desert village called Boreala, which competes with the city of Stratos for Rain – the equivalent of Holy Water. During a confrontation while gathering Rain, Miri accidentally kills a citizen of Stratos, and unintentionally starts a heinous war. Now it is up to her to find the God of Rain, Kalono, and ask Him for an invention that can bring both peace and war before Boreala is destroyed.
Seeing as I’m already a huge fan of this author, I was excited to read this new book by her. It’s both thought-provoking and entertaining and I found myself instantly getting lost in the story, so much so that the pages seemed to turn themselves. I really don’t want to give spoilers, but I have to say you see a lot of character growth throughout the book. Not only this, but I found the story to be written in a very realistic light – the author definitely did an amazing job with this one!
All I can say is, definitely give this book a read. It’s beautifully written and perfectly paced, and I’m so happy I read it!
